Point Reyes Bird Observatory: in this site you will find a wide array of information on birds, ranging from educational material to descriptions of scientific research programs and courses, downloadable data collection sheets and other software for scientific analysis, standard survey method descriptions, and some pictures and maps.

International Bird Rescue Research Center: description of their research and education programs, volunteer programs and opportunities to participate in conservation efforts. Links to local bird centers in Northern and Southern California. 

Ventana Wilderness Society: this is a website for information on wildlife. This will link you to some conservation programs focused on birds, among other things.

California Academy of Sciences: a description of the Ornithology and Mammalogy section of the Cal Academy, with links to collection descriptions, exhibits, and staff, among others.

NatureServe Explorer: a search engine to look for information about species, including birds.

Santa Cruz Predatory Bird Research: a source of information about birds of prey in California, with descriptions of research and education programs, bibliographies and links.

The Peregrine Fund: this is a diverse website where you can find information about raptors, conservation research projects, downloadable scientific reports, news about birds of prey, and education materials. 

Migratory Bird Program: shows the objectives of this research program, and links to other pages of interest, like birding places in the US, or description of certain species.

California Parrot Project: a resource for parrot information in California, including some bibliography, identification guidelines and a report sightings form.

Birds of the Imperial Valley: this page links to bird descriptions and photos for this Southern California Valley.

Bird checklist for Kern County: apart from the checklist, there are some basic information about the species and pictures, as well as some interesting links.

USGS's Bird checklist for California: you will find a list of sites where birds have been monitored, and a list of birds for each one of them.

California Department of Fish and Game's species lists: this is a collection of links to complete species lists for California plants and animals, including birds.

California Department of Fish and Game's endangered species list: this is a list of California threatened and endangered birds, with information on their life history traits and bibliographies.

California's Plants and Animals of the Habitat Conservation Planning Branch from the California Department of Fish and Game this site provides general plant and animal information, lists of special species, images of those species, life histories, conservation status information, survey standards and guidelines, and threats to species.

Western Field Ornithology: you will find information about species lists in the Pacific States, and a gallery of rare bird's photos, as well as information on related publications and conferences.

San Diego Zoo: have education materials and information for the general public, about many taxa, including some birds.

Los Angeles Zoo: education materials and links, with information about the Condor recovery program, among others.

Birding.com: this page will guide you through good places to watch birds all over the world, including California. They have a gallery of bird pictures, with descriptions of their life habits and many links. They also sell some products to help you identify birds.
